Part 1: The Effects of Drug Trafficking on the Globe!
Drug trafficking entails a global illegal trade of illicit drug. It involves cultivating, manufacturing, distributing and selling prohibited drugs under international laws (Global Issues in Context Online Collection). Such drugs include cocaine, heroin, opium, marijuana, and recently synthetic drugs such as amphetamine. Drug trafficking remains a global issue due to its numerous effects on the drug producing countries as well as the market destinations. Illicit drug manufacturing and cultivation around the globe have been isolated to regions such as South and Central America, which are the major cocaine producers, as well as Southwest, Southeast, and Central Asia, which are the major opiates producers. The drugs are trafficked through organized cartels from their cultivation zones to other market places, especially in the streets of the developed nations. Due to its immense negative effects on the globe, including contributing to civil wars and funding terror groups, drug trafficking has prompted intervention from both national and international organizations to try to curb the problem. Although measures have been put in place to eliminate the issue, such as arresting and imposing sanctions on drug traffickers, drug trafficking continues to prevail all over the globe through organized cartels.
Part 2: What are The Effects of Misused Hallucinogens?
Enjoying a cup of coffee every morning, most people are not aware that they are, in fact, taking drugs into their own body. Coffee contains caffeine, one of the drugs that are legal in the most part of the world. In
the category of recreational drugs, hallucinogenic substances are among the
oldest drugs used by human kind commonly in religious and shamanic rituals, yet
it is dangerous when people misuse them. Although some people misuse
hallucinogens while well aware of their negative effects, others use them out
of ignorance. For instance, psilocybin is the hallucinogenic chemical found in
some mushrooms. Eating such poisonous mushrooms amounts consider misuse of
hallucinogens and can have detrimental side effects (Strassman, 1995). Some of the research show a widespread social problem especially considering the agonizing effects of misuse of Hallucinogens. On the contrary, hallucinogens have been termed as physiologically safe.
